OUCO has once again demonstrated the reliability and adaptability of its marine crane solutions with the successful installation of a KTB series marine crane on the expedition vessel.

Our 0.6t8m Knuckle and Telescope Boom Crane

The KTB crane, with a Safe Working Load of 0.6t at 8m outreach, was specifically chosen for its compact design and ability to operate in low-temperature environments (-20° to +45°). These features made it an ideal match for this Antarctic expedition vessel, a vessel originally built as a life-saving ship in Norway and now serving as a platform for Antarctic adventure cruises.

With a maximum working radius of 8m, slewing angle of 360° free rotation, and hoisting speed of 0–12m/min, the crane provides precise and efficient handling of equipment in challenging polar conditions. Its 20m hook travel and luffing angle of 0–75° ensure flexibility for operations in confined spaces, while maintaining safety and reliability.

The Argentine expedition company operating the vessel praised the crane’s performance, highlighting its seamless integration with the vessel’s compact dimensions (LOA 26.5m, Beam 7.1m). The operator reported that the crane’s smooth operation and dependable performance significantly enhanced their ability to support passenger activities and logistics in Antarctica.

Encouraged by this positive experience, the client has decided to procure another OUCO crane, reinforcing their trust in OUCO’s engineering expertise and product quality.

This repeat order underscores OUCO’s commitment to delivering tailor-made marine handling solutions that meet the toughest environmental challenges, while ensuring safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
